Pour les organisateurs de ce 2ème Festival International de Film d'Amateur de Grand Large, le succès dépasse largement leurs espérances, tant au niveau du nombre et de la qualité des films présentés que par le public venu assister la manifestation.
Montage du grand écran
En septembre, les atolls des Tuamotu se sont déjà vidés des voiliers en circumnavigations qui sont déjà bien plus à l'Ouest vers les Fidji ou la Nouvelle-Zélande. Néanmoins, pas moins d'une dizaine de bateaux se sont retrouvés à la passe sud de l'Atoll de Fakarava. Les habitants du motu et les pensionnaires des hôtels ont aussi participé à l'événement.
La soirée a commencé par un buffet digne des fastes hollywoodiens avec le coucher de soleil comme toile de fond : plateau de fromage, pizza, quiche, salade tahitienne, riz coco, charcuterie, chili con carne, pain polynésien, samosa, salade de brocoli, foccacia, ...
Une fois tout un chacun rassasié, les compétiteurs et le publique se sont installés sur des palmes posées à même la plage. Pendant toute la projection des cinq films en compétions, le grand écran (5m x 3m) fixé entre deux cocotiers, s'est illuminé des superbes couleurs de la Polynésie.
Puis place au buffet des desserts pendant que le jury composé de 2 polynésiens dont une femme, un voyageur français et une yachtie bilingues américano-française délibère. Finalement la soirée se clôture par la remise des superbes et convoités Cocos d'Or.
Une animation très réussie animée par l'équipage polyglotte et plein d'humour, du voilier Elan.

Où et quand se déroulera la prochaine édition ? Voici bien des questions qu'on ne pose pas à des navigateurs, car elles n'ont pas de réponses... en tout cas pas 12 mois à l'avance!

The quality of the movies was outstanding.
For the promoters of the 2nd International Yachties Film Festival, the success of the event passed their expectations extensively in the number of films presented, their level of quality, and the number of participants that attended.
Preparing the screen
In September, the atolls of the Tuamotus are already emptied of the sailboats in circumnavigations that are already headed west toward Fiji or New Zealand. Nevertheless, ten boats met at the south pass of the atoll of Fakarava. The inhabitants of the motu, and the boarders of the hotels, also participated in the event.
The evening started with a buffet worthy of the Hollywood pomp with the sunset as back-drop: trays of cheese and sliced cold cuts, pizza, quiche, Tahitian parrotfish salad, coconut rice, beef chili con carne, Polynesian bread, samosa, broccoli salad, focaccia bread, etc...
Once everyone had finished with dinner, the competitors and spectators settled themselves on palm leaves layered on the beach. During the projection of the five movies in competition, the big screen (5m x 3m) was fixed between two coconut trees, illuminated by the superb colors of Polynesia.
The spectators enjoyed the dessert buffet while the representative jury, comprised of 2 Polynesians, a French traveler, and a bilingual American French yachtie, deliberated. The evening ended with the anticipation and presentation of the Golden Coconut Awards. The awards were presented to the winners with great animation and humor by the multilingual German crew of the sailboat Elan.
